Gas and bloating: 10 tips to get rid of it/home remedies for acidity and gas problem
home remedies for acidity and gas problem
You suffer from bloating and stomach ache? Did you know that intestinal bloating is closely related to diet? So what can be done to improve this digestive discomfort? LQDP explains everything!
Gases: the cause of bloating
The term “aerocolie” refers to an accumulation of gas in the colon. Why are gases produced? Simply because we harbor in the large intestine – or colon – free of charge bacteria, small microscopic organism. These bacteria are essential for our survival, because without them, we would be unable to achieve digestion or to protect against other pathogenic bacteria for example. And so these bacteria are not only there for free, but also with full board, since they feed on what we absorb. They therefore transform digestion residues into other substrates, including gases. It is said that there is fermentation. Depending on what we eat, there will be different fermentations, with more or less gas production.
The gases can also come from an excessive absorption of air during the ingestion of food. If the aerocolie is not dangerous, it is however unpleasant. The main symptoms of the aerocolie are bloating, abdominal pain, gas, or even belching (or more simply rot or rototo for babies!).
Symptoms of overproduction of gas
Maybe you have already experienced a surplus of gas production? The main symptoms are:
- Abdomen distended or swollen,
- Pain during digestion,
- Stomach aches,
Bloating and gas are therefore very linked! Do you know that we emit an average of 15 to 20 farts per day, or 50 to 150 centilitres of gas a day! And watch out ladies! Because all princesses that we are, we are good producers of gas, with more than 30% gas compared to men (so in the clear: we peck more)!
10 tips to limit gas and bloating/home remedies for acidity and gas problem
1 – Eat slowly.
2- Avoid sparkling water, of course! And all the sodas too.
3 – Forget about chewing gum or other chewing gums: they generally contain non-fermentable sugars that tend to increase fermentation phenomena. In the same way, we absorb too much air by chewing them.
4 – Limit a diet too rich in fiber: unfortunately, if the fibers have interesting effects for health, they are only slightly digested in the intestines and are therefore a real treat for our bacteria! But be careful: do not remove them from your diet because they have a lot of strengths despite everything! Avoid raw fruits and vegetables for example
5 – Limit the food too heavy and too fat: it makes digestion even more difficult.
6 – For people with functional colopathy, a diet low in FODMAPs will certainly limit the production of gas.
7 – Avoid eating too much red meat.
8 – Attention to milk: lactose can cause intestinal disorders. In contrast, yogurts, white cheeses and cheeses are better tolerated.
9 – Avoid certain foods such as cabbage, broccoli (known as the cruciferous family): they tend to increase gas production.
10 – And limit stress and anxiety! Bloating is extremely related to our moods!
What remedies for gas and bloating?
In addition to foods to avoid, think of some foods that can relieve bloating:
Do not forget to drink!
Why so much smell?
And yes ? Why do not we produce gas that smells like rose or vanilla? It will be more suitable anyway! And again, the bacteria produce odorous fermentation substrates. Sometimes they are sulfurized compounds that give an unpleasant odor, at the limit of the “rotten egg”!
The composition of a fart is on average:
- 59% nitrogen
- 21% hydrogen
- 9% carbon dioxide
- 3% oxygen
- 1% hydrogen sulphide (the thing that stinks).
But this remains an average, and depending on the type of gas produced in the intestines, the smell of fart will be more or less strong.
And why noise?
The sound of the gas coming out of the anus depends on the pressure of the gas. The weaker it is, the fart will be silent, and vice versa: if the pressure of the gas is greater, the skin around the anus will vibrate under the effect of this pressure from where this musical sound and so recognizable that it will be impossible to say “no, it’s not me”! But beware, there is some musicality in the emitted sound: the more the muscles of the anus are stretched, the more the anus vibrates quickly and the more the sound produced is acute.
The pathologies associated with bloating and gas
Bloating and gas can be isolated, that is to say punctual and directly related to our stress states or what we have just eaten (too rich meal, too fat, etc. ..). Medications can come to relieve these ailments under medical advice.
Attention, if the symptoms persist, it will be necessary to consult a doctor, because pathologies are associated with these symptoms. These include functional colopathy or irritable bowel syndrome, lactose intolerance, gastro-oesophageal reflux …
